Clothes For Snow Camping

December 26, 2006 - Tag: Camping Trips

Have you ever thought about camping in the snow? We have thought about it several times but never actually planned a trip. A lot goes into planning a snow camping trip including the essential clothes you must take with you.

Warm clothing is a must and should consist of three layers. A wicking layer that is next to the skin to wick moisture away, an insulating layer that traps warm air that your body has heated up, and a protective layer that protects the two inner layers from wind, rain, and snow, such as Gore-Tex.

I’ve camped in winter, but we had a cabin with a fireplace to huddle around at night! It wasn’t a fancy cabin with heating and plumbing and all that, but at least it was dry and there was fire warmth. I know, that’s cheating a little bit -lol-
