I seen something similar to this on dragons den, where the plates and bowls folded into flat pack, great tool for outback.

I'm not impressed. Disposable plastic bowls are lighter, more rigid, and nearly free. Toss 'em in the fire when you're done and your pack gets lighter. No muss no fuss. I also use only plastic utensils and insulated paper cups. (I hate washing dishes.)

They really aren't that great...
My clear blue plastic bowl is really easily lickable, also works as a cup, and plate, and is shaped so that you can actually fit it in your pack along with other stuff. The shape of these cause lots of dead space, even with the squishing, which is a major problem when backpacking. Also they cant work as a plate, so you need to take that along too. They may work alright for camping, but then again so does your grandmother's china.

Everyone with these on my last trip was envying the rest of our hard plastic bowl by the end.

I wonder how much of the essence of plastic leaks into the food they hold.

Usually, plastic leaks carcinogens like crazy. I would never eat out of something like this.

I would absolutely NEVER let a child eat out of these. Childrens metabolism is much higher than an adult and absorbs plastic carcinogens much more rapidly.

They are real nice. There is only one downside that I can see, and that is having any type of liquid in it. Being softsided, they collapse when picked up and the liquid inside sloshes around or spills.
